thawed.

they let their guard down, dropping it unceremoniously on the floor like a heavy winter coat, arms stretching into space to feel the relief of a weight removed. they take up space so beautifully, so perfectly, this way. the room is filled with their presence and although they feel shy and vulnerable, there is warmth here, too. there is space, and a place to just be.

the feelings furnace has been broken for so long they forgot where the switch was located. they flick it on cautiously, nervously, and it purrs and hums itself into life. they radiate cozy vibes like cotton candy clouds, their coat of distrust finally shed. they step into the heat on fragile feet, tiptoeing to tranquility and trust in others.

they finally stop shivering.
