epiphany.

the epiphany came and went several times before they connected the dots in red permanent marker. they had to be sure. they had to know themselves well enough. they had to be able to explain who they were, who they are, and who they have been to themselves before they could explain it to anyone else. or so they thought.

but, once the dots were connected and the epiphany evolved into who they wanted to be, who they knew they had to be, the rest of their questions fell like the cherry blossom petals of ancient cherry trees springing into life on quiet april afternoons. they were beautiful questions, a shower of softening hearts and curiosity.

and when they bloomed for their friends and family, nobody asked them why because it didn’t matter anyway. they were loved all the same. a lesson was learned, and they found that some things can be explained, but other things don’t have to be explained at all. they just are. a true epiphany.
