the tides of change swell and pull at their human body and brain, rushing to meet the shores of identity and humanity. sarcoline shivers descend upon them as they rise from the waters to stand on the sandy beaches of home. they stand tall and firm while confidence and security settle themselves by the campfire to warm their cold, wet bodies. these two have been ignored for far too long and have grown numb by the tides’ chilly embrace.
they get to know each other again, as strangers from strange lands do. they all share and repair their relationships while the skies evolve into an ageless amethyst. the stars blink and periwink at the human like a long lost lover who has finally found the one. they have found some peace here, but when it is time to go and the stars have hidden themselves among the dust of space once more, and when the sand of the beach is too hot for their feet, they will be ready to change again, to go forth hand in hand with their newest friends, back into the water.
but for now, they sit beside their new friends, letting the campfire flames lick their knuckles in greeting. they exchange stories of kinship and can’t-ship as the stars listen in on the conversation. all three brush aside the can’t-ship, saying there’s no use trying to change things that are as solid and immovable as mountain peaks. but they forget that change is the nature of all things and even mountains erode if given some time. they know that hope often resides within change, but that its source is within the self. they just need to get to know it.
